Presentation of Connecting New Generations Belgrade–Rome: Project and Research by Serbian Artists
We are pleased to invite you to a presentation and in-depth talk on the international project Connecting New Generations. Belgrade–Rome, launched in 2024 as a path of artistic dialogue and collaboration between a group of emerging artists and curators from the contemporary scenes of Rome and Belgrade.
Conceived by Alessia Simonetti, the project culminated in a group exhibition curated by Simonetti together with Miroslav Karić, held from September 30 to November 7, 2025 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade, with the collaboration and support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade and the Embassy of Italy in Belgrade, in partnership with Spazio Y.
The exhibition presented works by emerging Italian artists—Giulia Apice, Verdiana Bove, Luca Di Terlizzi, Caterina Sammartino, and Maddalena Scuderoni—and by emerging Serbian artists—Sonja Lundin, Jana Jovašević, Nikola Pavković, Ana Simić, and Aleksandar Smederevac—highlighting the intercultural dialogue at the core of the project.

Talk Content:
During the talk, the origins of the project and the process that led to the collaboration between Rome and Belgrade will be presented. Special attention will be given to the research of the Serbian artists, presented as a sort of remote studio visit: an in-depth moment that allows the dialogue initiated by the exhibition to continue, even at a distance.
The meeting is conceived as an intermediate stage of an open-ended process, looking ahead to future developments and new shared projects, including an exhibition in Rome.
