Sound performance “Klangkontinuum 2.0” by Johannes Krumböck and Darja Shatalova

We are pleased to invite you to a sound performance by Johannes Krumböck and Darja Shatalova, taking place on Saturday, May 30 at 7 p.m.

The performance also serves as the finissage of the exhibition “Simple and Banal”.

“Klangkontinuum 2.0” represents a sound performance by Johannes Krumböck and Darja Shatalova with a length of around 20 minutes. Darja plays a figure consisting of copper pipes and taut strings from iron wire. A contact microphone is attached to it, which picks up and amplifies the sound. Johannes receives the signal and modulates it with different effects units. In this way, a dialogue is created, interweaving the analogue and digital creation of sounds. For the presentation at U10 “Klangkontinuum 2.0”, debuted in 2022, is developed further to create a new experience of experimental sound.

Darja Shatalova is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vienna. She graduated in Transmedia Arts, but studied mathematics previously, so both worlds intertwine in her work. Darja’s artistic practice ranges from site-specific installations to sound works and performances, with the artist’s book forming a central element of the creative process. Her main concern is to work with the architecture and history of a space in order to create a work responding to the dynamics of this environment, whereby she is particularly interested in the analysis and investigation of principles and patterns underlying the multitude of events.

Johannes Krumböck is an interdisciplinary artist. In his multimedia practice, he weaves together music, visual design, and technology. His works emerge from a dialogue between algorithmic processes in intuitive design spaces, the creative potential of code, and the immersion in personal consciousness. For him, artistic expression is not a privilege, but a necessity – a way to navigate life, to find grounding within the complexity of the world, to encounter it, and to continuously reshape and rediscover it.
